Junior Bryce Henry led the LumberJacsks at the UMAC Cross Country Championships with a time of 29:34, placing 21st. The team finished 6th out of 8 teams just five points behind fifth place North Central University. “Our men ran good, strong races today on a tough course.” States Head Coach Dave Beeksma, “The men’s times were thirty seconds to over one minute slower than previous season best times throughout the conference while our men ran at or faster than their season best times.” Junior Christopher Goscinak was second on the team finishing the 8K race in 30:35 for 31st place. Fellow Juniors Max Metz (32nd at 31:04), Will Schlager (34th at 31:57), and Marty Schoofs (35th at 32:02) completed the team scoring for Northland. First Year runner Antony Frater (37th at 32:08), Sophomore Kevin Robertson (34:12), First Year Noel Cockney (65th at 35:00) and First Year Dan Hoffmann (69th at 36:42) also participated in the race. Northland is significantly improved over last year. However, the conference is also much stronger this year. Last year only one runner broke 28 minutes at the conference championship, this year seven runners broke 28 minutes. Martin Luther College won the team championship with a score of 46,being led by individual champion Nate Loersch who won with a time of 27:13. The Jacks finish out their season at the Midwest region championships hosted by Augustana College on Nov. 15th.
