The LumberJills got two victories today as they hosted a triangular at Kendrigan Gymnasium. The Jills won match one over Crown 3-0 (25-17; 25-21; 25-15). They then won their second match over Finlandia also 3-0 (25-18; 25-18; 25-19). With their win over Crown the Jills secured the 3rd seed in the UMAC and will travel to St. Scholastica on Tuesday November 3rd for a semi-final match at 7 p.m. The game will be webcasted on northlandcollegesports.com and fans can also follow live stats by going to the St. Scholastica athletic website.
In match one the Jills jumped out early and took the match in 3 games
. Chelsea Lundgren (Sr. Crosby, Minn.) had a big match for the Jills as she recorded 15 kills and 7 blocks.
Alicia Wiebe (Jr. Ashland, Wis.) and
Melissa Anderson (Sr. Brooklyn Park, Minn.) each added 5 kills. Defensively
Miranda Reichert (Sr. Wausau, Wis.) led the Jills with 8 digs. The win puts the Jills regular season UMAC record at 9-5.
In the Jills second match it was
Laura Fisher (Jr. Green Bay, Wis.) who stepped up for Northland with 9 kills, 3 digs and 1 block.
Wiebe added 9 kills as did
Lundgren. The defense was led once again by
Reichert with 15 digs and
Anderson tallied 14 digs to go along with 7 kills. The Jills finish the regular season with an overall record of 15-17. The triangular marked the last home matches for seniors;
Anderson, Lundgren, Wiebe and
Reichert.
