The LumberJill Volleyball team is poised for a playoff run as they start the UMAC tournament tomorrow night. They will travel to St. Scholastica to take on the Saints in a semi-final match at 7 p.m. The Jills lost the season series to the Saints, but played very competitively in each match. The Saints and Jills played in a 5-game thriller back on October 15th at home. First year Coach Heidi Smith thinks the Jills are due against the Saints: "As a first year coach it's pretty exciting to be in the post season. We are anxious to play St. Scholastica again; they are due for a loss against us". The Jills are led by
Melissa Anderson (Sr. Brooklyn Park, Minn.) who has tallied 271 kills, 395 digs and 53 blocks on the season. Also leading the Jills are
Laura Fisher (Jr. Green Bay Wis.) with 274 kills and 104 blocks,
Chelsea Lundgren (Sr. Crosby, Minn.) 231 kills and 144 blocks and
Alicia Wiebe (Jr. Ashland, Wis.) 195 kills, 103 digs and 41 blocks. The Jills are led on defense by
Miranda Reichert (Sr. Wausau, Wis.) with 527 digs and 68 service aces. Coach Smith has enjoyed coaching this team this seaon: "I am very proud of of the LumberJill Volleyball team. They have work hard everyday and are a great group of young women to work with".
