The LumberJills lost 1-0 in the UMAC Championship game on Saturday in Duluth. The Jills historic season comes to an end with the loss. The Saints win their third straight UMAC title. St. Scholastica would take the early lead on what would eventually become the game winner when Angie Groh scored at the 13:41 mark in the first half. Groh scored as the Saints broke away from the Jills defense, where Groh's shot got passed Jills goalie Katie Mahoney (So. Pittsburgh, Pa.) in the far corner of the goal. Beth Flesvig and Melisa Entinger both picked up assists on the goal. The Jills could only manage one shot on goal in the first half. The second half however was a different story. The Jills outshot the Saints 6-4, but could not get one in the net. Saints goalie Erin Olejniciak made 3 saves for the shut out and Mahoney made 3 saves for the Jills.
The LumberJills finished their season with an overall record of 15-4-1 and 11-3 in the UMAC. They finished the regular season in second place and were the conference tournament runners-up. The second place finish is the highest in program history. The 15 wins also marks a program high for a season. The game was the last for seniors Sarah Strobino (Sr. Buffalo, N.Y.), Amanda Seely (Sr. Powell, Ohio), Mariah Cook (Washburn, Wis.), Alia Durfee (Fond du Lac) and Jennifer Kelley (Broomfield, Colo.).
