Game One Box Score
The Northland College LumberJills picked up two victories in a sweep of UM-Morris in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) doubleheader played in Morris today.  The Jills topped the Cougars 7-4 in the opener and 15-7 in a game shortened to five  innings due to the eight run rule.

In the first game the Cougars scored first with an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning.  The LumberJills took the lead in the top of the third.   The Jills started the inning with three consecutive singles from Shon Givens (Sr., Dallas, Texas), Brittany Schmitt (Jr., Abbotsford, Wis.), and Kylie Garing (Fr., Chimicum, Wash.).  Givens scored on Garing's hit and Schmitt later scored on an RBI groundout by Ashleigh Miller (Fr., Ashland, Wis.).  In the top of the sixth, Northland expanded it's lead as the Jills sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs on six hits.  UM-Morris scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 7-4 which would be the final.

Givens led the LumberJills with three hits, Garing, Marge Koosmann (Jr., Mellen, Wis.), and Asia DeVlaeminck (Jr., Mankato, Minn.) had two hits each.  Brittany Schmitt picked up the complete game win allowing only two earned runs and striking out three.

Game Two Box Score

In the second game the LumberJills took control early scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.  Schmitt led of the game with a single.  Following a walk, fielder's choice and a strikeout the Jills got three consecutive run scoring hits as Aurora Albrecht (Sr., Cadott, Wis.) and DeVlaeminck singled and Chrissy Dvorscak (Sr., Whiting, Ind.) doubled.  The Jills would add to their lead in the second scoring two runs.  Schmitt, Garing, Koosmann, and Miller started the inning with four consecutive singles followed by a sacrifice fly by Albrecht.  In the fourth the Jills exploded for six runs on six hits, sending nine batters to the plate in an inning for a second time in the day.  The twelfth run was scored in the fifth when Kayla Totzke (Fr., Appleton, Wis.) ripped an RBI double.

The LumberJills 18 hit attack featured seven players with a multiple hit game.  Schmitt and Albrecht each had three hits, while Garing, Koosmann, DeVlaeminck, Dvorscak, and Miranda Reichert (Fr., Mosinee, Wis.) had two apiece.  Schmitt picked up her second win of the day tossing a four hitter and allowing only one earned run while fanning four.  

The LumberJills will be back in action on Tuesday when they play in Roseville, Minn. at Northwestern College.   Northland will face Northwestern at 11:00 a.m. and Crown College at 5:00 p.m.
