The Northland College LumberJills improved to 8-3 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Saturday.  They swept Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D. by scores of 14-1 and 15-7.

In the first game the first three innings were scoreless then the LumberJills exploded for nine runs in the top of the fourth inning.  They sent 13 batters to the plate in the frame.  The Saints scored one unearned run in the bottom of the inning.  In the top of the fifth the Jills scored five more times, batting around again.  Miranda Reichert (Fr., Mosinee, Wis.) and Asia DeVlaeminck (Jr., Mankato, Minn.) led the Northland fourteen hit attack with three hits each.  Reichert also collected four RBI.  Brittany Schmitt (Jr., Abbotsford, Wis.) picked up the win in the circle, allowing  no earned runs on four hits while fanning nine.

In the second game the LumberJills took an early 5-0 lead, scoring one run in the first, three in the second, and one in the third.  However the Saints came back scoring five in the bottom of the third to tie the game.   Northland took the lead right back scoring four in the top of the fourth and had another big inning scoring six in the top of the sixth.    Marge Koosmann (Jr., Mellen, Wis.) and Ashleigh Miller (Fr., Ashland, Wis.) led the LumberJills with two hits each.  Schmitt picked up her second win of the day, allowing no runs on one hit in two and a third innings in relief.

The LumberJills are back in action Sunday in Morris, Minn. with a UMAC doubleheader vs. UM-Morris.
