Northland College got the offense going early and often as they swept the University of Minnesota- Morris over the weekend. The LumberJacks (8-14, 5-8 UMAC) scored 57 times and collected 49 hits in the three game series. UM-Morris (6-19, 3-10), who came into the weekend ahead of the Jacks in the standings, used nine different pitchers on the weekend.
The Jacks were lead on offense by
Chris Steiner (Sr., Auburn, Wash.). The senior shortstop continued to swing a hot bat as he went 12-14 with 2 doubles, a triple, a homerun and 13 runs batted in.
Jeremy Snow (So., Tucson, Ariz.) collected seven hits on the weekend, while
Matt Tanneberg (Jr., Kennewick, Wash.),
Bryce Szymanski (Jr., Pequot Lakes, Minn.) and
BJ Leach (Fr., Kirkland, Wash.) added six apiece. Szymanski collected his team leading forth and fifth homeruns. Sophomore
Zach Schultz (Brookfield, Wis.) hit his first career homerun, a three run shot, in game 1.
Leach pitched a complete game to earn his second victory of the week in game one. Willy Mueller (Fr., Racine, Wis.) picked up his first collegiate victory in game two. Snow pitched eight innings to earn his first collegiate win in game 3, with Mueller coming on in relief to pick up his third save.
