Northland College dropped a doubleheader to the College of St. Scholastica Saints on Wednesday. Falling by scores of 9-0 and 15-2 in Duluth, Minn.
In the first game the LumberJills were limited to two hits by Saint pitcher Jen Falk. After taking a two run lead in the first on a two-run homerun, the Saint struck for four in the third and three in the fourth. Brittany Schmitt (Jr., Abbotsford, Wis.) was tagged with the loss for the Jills.
In the second game CSS exploded for 17 hits off three Jills pitchers. The Jills two runs came by way of a two run home run by Kylie Garing (Fr., Chimicum, Wash.) in the third inning.
"Give Scholastica credit, they came out and played really well," said Head Coach Steve Wammer, "there is a reason they are undefeated in the UMAC. Hopefully we will get another shot to line up against them in the conference tournament."
The LumberJills will be in action again this weekend for the UMAC crossover in Aberdeen, S.D. before returning home for a doubleheader on Monday.
