St. Scholastica showed why they are ranked # 4 in the nation tonight as they defeated the LumberJacks 10-1 and 12-5 in a double-header played at Wade Stadium in Duluth, MN. Northland falls to 8-17 overall and 5-9 in the UMAC. St. Scholastica improves to 26-2 and 14-0 in the UMAC.

In game one, the score was close until the 4th inning. The Saints scored lone runs in the 1st and 2nd innings. After going scoreless in the 3rd they erupted for 8 runs in the 4th. Scholastica pounded 8 hits and were helped my one Northland error as they took a 10-0 lead. The Jacks were able to get on the board in the 6th inning on a sacrifice fly by Chris Steiner. B.J. Leach took the loss for the Jacks giving up 16 hits, 10 runs (6 earned) while striking out 3. The Jacks were led offensively by Matt Tanneberg who had two hits for Northland.

In game two, the Saints would plate 6 runs in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th to secure the 12-5 win in a non-conference game. Northland would get on the board early as Senior Chris Steiner hit his 3rd homerun of the season a 3-run shot. The lead would only last an inning for the Jacks at they walked the bases loaded in the 2nd before Chad Peterson hit a 2-run double to start the Saints scoring. St. Scholastica would be helped by 2 Northland errors in the 3rd as they extended their lead. The Jacks would add single runs in the 5th and 6th for the 12-5 score. Jeremy Snow took the loss on the mound for the Jacks, who were led by Steiner who had 4 rbi's on the game and Josh Spiegel who had two hits. The Jacks will return home to LumeberJack Field to take on the Crown College Storm on Friday April 24th.
