Jacks Defeat Storm

Northland was able to avenge a loss on Friday to Crown with a 9-2 win today at LumberJack Field.  The Jacks jumped out to an early lead and Junior Bryce Szymanski went the distance as Northland improves to 10-18 overall and 7-10 in the UMAC.  The Jacks got two runs in the first due to an error then added another run in the second after an RBI single by B.J. Leach.  Crown would get back into the game in the 3rd plating two runs but that would be it as Szymanski shut the door.  The Jacks would add two insurance runs in the 6th off of a sacrifice fly by Matt Tanneberg and an RBI double by Szymanski.  Northland would widen the margin even more in the bottom of the eighth scoring 4 times.  Freshmen Dan Salewski led off the inning with a single, Jeremy Snow and Leach would also follow with singles.  Tanneberg would bring home Salewski, Szymanski brought home Snow and Tanneberg would score on a RBI groundout by Chris Steiner.  Snow, Leach and Tanneberg had 3 hits apiece to lead Northland.  Szymanski went 9 innings on the mound, giving up 6 hits, 2 runs while striking out 9.  The Jacks will host Bethany Lutheran this weekend for a three-game series starting Friday May 1st at 3:00 PM.
