The LumberJacks ended their 2009 season on a positive note sweeping the Finlandia Lions, 7-4 and 4-1 in 8 innings. The Jacks finish the season with an overall record of 13-20, and a UMAC record of 8-12. The total of 13 wins is one more than last season.

B.J. Leach got his 4th victory of the season in game one going the distance for the Jacks. He also helped out his own cause hitting his first collegiate homerun in the 1st inning. Jeremy Snow doubled home a run in the second and then scored on an error to move the Northland lead to 3-1. Snow would lead off the 4th with a double as the Jacks broke the game open by scoring three times. Matt Tanneberg brought home Snow, Bryce Szymanski would add a sacrifice fly as would Chad Moore. Snow, Leach, and Tanneberg would each record two hits for the Jacks, Tanneberg drove in three runs.

In game two, it was a pitchers duel until the top of the 8th inning when Northland would bring across 3 runs for the 4-1 victory. Bryce Szymanski pitched a complete game for the Jacks recording his 4th win on the season. Szymanski surrendered only 4 hits, one unearned run and struck 5. Offensively Tanneberg would lead the Jacks again with 3 hits and Chad Moore drove in two for Northland. The game winning RBI came from Senior Chris Steiner who was playing his last game in a Northland Uniform. "This is a great way to end the season", said first year Head Coach Andy Ham. "We didn't reach our goal of making the conference tournament, but I thought we did a lot of positive things this season. We have an excellent core of guys coming back next year; I am very exciting for next season and making a run at a UMAC title."
