Northland’s Men’s Cross Country Team got a good look at the conference course this past Saturday and finished 5th out of 7 teams at the Storm Invitational hosted by Crown College. “We are starting off strong with our seniors running the fastest they have run this early in the season. We have a goal as a team to have our top five under 30 minutes at our conference meet and by the looks of things at this point, I think we will meet that goal.” Comments Head Coach David Beeksma. Leading the Jacks again was Joseph Zant (Fr. Hillsboro, Wis.) who finished 12th with a time of 29:57. Bryce Henry (Sr. Bellville, Ill.) followed Zant with a 15th place finish in 30:20 with Kelsey Barra (Fr. Newport, N.Y.) taking 30th in 32:17 and Christopher Goscinak (Sr. Sharon, Mass.) taking 33rd with a time of 32:58. Noel Cockney (So. Inuvik, NWT, Canada) completed the scoring with a 34th place finish in 34:00. Junior Tom Lampaa (Northfield, Minn.) (44th in 34:05), John Grunde (Fr. Chicago, Ill.) (50th in 34:48), Kevin Robertson (Jr. Cloquet, Minn.) (60th in 36:49), and Nate Leurquin (Jr. Luxemburg, Wis.) (62nd in 39:53) also competed for the Jacks.
Junior Nathan Loersch of Martin Luther College won the men’s race with a time of 27:37 while the University of Minnesota-Morris men took the team title with a score of 47. The Jacks race again on Saturday, September 26th at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.
