The Northland Women’s XC team finished 6th out of 7 teams at the Crown College Storm Invitational on Saturday, September 12th. The race was a preview of the conference meet course that will be run on October 31st. Hannah Fanney (Fr. Lodi, Wis.) once again led the Jills with a 16h place finish in a time of 26:53. Fanney was followed by fellow Freshmen Samantha Lucheck (Plainfield, Ill.) (28th with a time of 29:21) and Katherine Boyk (Naperville, Ill.) (29th with a time of 29:22). Sophomores Emily Schlager (Platteville, Wis.) (334th with a time of 30:09) and Bonnie Johnson (Freeport, Maine.) (35th with a time of 30:10) completed the scoring for the LumberJills. Stacia Macy (Charleston, Ill.) finished the race in 55th place with a time of 3:40, Sophomore Aubree Meyer (Prairie du Chien, Wis.) finished in 56th with a time of 32:34, and Sophomore Anna Rix (Chugiak, Ark.) improved by almost four minutes over her last race to finish 68th in 36:07).
Linda Keller of the University of Minnesota-Morris, the former Minnesota Class A State Cross Country Champion, won the women’s race with an impressive time of 22:06. Viterbo College won the women’s race with a score of 33.
“All the ladies ran well today, we are very pleased with where we are at this early in the season.” States Head Coach David Beeksma, “The UMAC conference looks to be the strongest it has ever been on the women’s side. It is going to be a very challenge year to move up in the conference, but our women are excited to take on that challenge.”
The Jils will next compete on Saturday, September 26th in the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota.
