Jacks win 67-64 over Saints
Bookmark and Share
The LumberJacks came out strong against rival St. Scholastica and grabbed an early lead that they would never relinquish as they got back into the win column defeating the Saints 67-64.  The Jacks improve to 2-3 UMAC and 3-11 overall on the season.  Joey Brennan got the Jacks rolling early scoring the first 5 points of the game.  The Jacks hot shooting continued in the first half as they shot 46% from the field including 50% from beyond the arc building a six point half time lead.  In the second half the Jacks would work to grow the lead to nine before the Saints climb back into the game.  Poor shooting would follow the Saints in the second as they could not get the lead from Northland.  The Jacks would shoot nearly 60% from the floor and made 70% of their free throws to get the lead back up to eight late in the game.  Two miraculous three point baskets would get the Saints back to within three but that is where it would.  Ryan Cannata would lead all scorers with 22 points including 4- three pointers.  Lloyd Kalfs also got into double digits with 10 points and Michael Mackey added 7 points, 8 assists and 4 steals.  The Jacks will look to continue to climb the UMAC standings next weekend when they host Bethany Lutheran on Friday start at 7:30 p.m.
