Jacks Lose to Cougars

The LumberJacks lost at home against the UM-Morris Cougars tonight 67-60.  Morris improves to 3-0 in the UMAC and stays in first place.  The Jacks move to 1-2 in the UMAC and 3-10 overall on the season.  The Jacks came out strong as they re-opened Kendrigan Gymnasium tonight after 5 months of renovations.  Zeb Woiak (Jr. Nekoosa, Wis.) and Michael Mackey (Jr. Holmen, Wis.)  would help get the Jacks out in front early.  The Cougars would claw their way back into the game and eventually take the lead mid-way through the first half.  The Jacks would take back the lead only to lose it again and go into the half down by 3 at 30-33.  An early run by Morris would put them up by 10 five minutes into the second half, but the Jacks would fight their way back in it to get the lead down to 4 at 44-48 with 12:53 left to go in the game.  That would be as close as they would get as they could not chip away any more.  Mackey was the player of the game for Northland scoring 24 points to go along with 4 rebounds.  Woiak would finish with 8 points all coming in the first half and Ryan Cannata (Sr. Nashwauk, Minn.) would get into double-digits with 11 points.  The Jacks will look to rebound and get back to .500 in conference plays as they host Presentation College starting at 5 p.m.  The game will also be webcast at northlandcollegesports.com.
