The LumberJacks secured third place in the North Division of the MCHA and will take on the Lawrence University Vikings in Appleton, Wis.  this Friday night at 7 p.m.  The Jacks secured third place by finishing 5-14-1 in MCHA play and 5-19-1 overall.  The last time the Jacks faced the Vikings they defeated them 5-3.  The following weekend Northland would clinch the final playoff spot in dramatic fashion beating Finlandia 4-3 in overtime.  The two division format is in its first season with the MCHA.  The OT win knocked the Lions out of playoff contention.  

The Jacks are led in scoring by freshmen Nicholas Hewko who has tallied 17 goals and 12 assists good for 29 points on the season.  He his among the top scorers in the MCHA.  Another freshmen Kraig Wright has also tallied 29 points on the year with 12 goals and 17 assists.  Team captain Chad Moore leads the Jacks with 18 assists to go along with 8 goals.  Goalie Daniel McIntosh was named MCHA Defensive player of the week last week for his efforts in the OT win over Finlandia.  McIntosh has made 636 saves on the year.  

The Jacks and Vikings will play Friday night and then again Saturday afternoon.  If the two teams split the two games they will then play another period to see who will move on to the final four.
