The Northland College LumberJill Women’s Basketball team has received a bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
The Northland College LumberJill Women’s Basketball team has received an at large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. This is the first Northland team to ever receive a bid to a NCAA Championship.
The LumberJills will play Carthage College Friday, March 5th at 5:30 p.m. The game will be played at UW-Whitewater which is the host to four teams for first and second round games. UW Whitewater and St. Thomas play in the other bracket. The winners will meet on Saturday March 6th at 7:00 p.m.
“We are excited to be in the tournament.” States Head Coach Bill Wilson, “considering the disappointment of losing in the semifinals last week to Northwestern, we are overjoyed to be selected for the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.”
“I am very proud of what our women’s basketball team has accomplished,” comment Director of Athletics Steve Wammer, “they are an outstanding group of young women who I know will represent us well. I am also proud of Coach Wilson and his staff, he has worked extremely hard and obviously done an outstanding job.”
