Northland College Director of Athletics Steve Wammer announced today that head Women’s Soccer Coach Ashley Grant has resigned to accept a similar position at Elmira College in Elmira, N.Y. Grant has been a member of the Northland coaching staff for three years, the past two as head coach.
“Although we are disappointed to see Coach Grant leave, we wish her well in her new position,” commented Wammer. “Ashley has done an outstanding job of leading the LumberJill program.”
Grant took over the Northland College program in 2008 after serving as an assistant in the previous season. She was a four year letterwinner for the LumberJills prior to that. In her two seasons she posted a 24-9-2 record. This past season the LumberJills finished second in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) and advanced to the conference championship game. Grant was named UMAC Coach of the Year by her peers.
“My time at Northland College has been inspiring, insightful, and life changing. I am very blessed to have coached such great players whose attributes go far beyond what we accomplished on the field. I am confident with how this program has developed and know that it will continue to succeed well into the future.” Grant commented. “I would like the thank Northland College for the opportunity to coach their women’s soccer team, having been a part of this program for eight years I am leaving with Northland with many cherished memories.”
A search for a new coach will begin announced soon according to Wammer. “We are confident that we will bring a great coach to Northland to lead our outstanding program.”
