Northland swept Presentation College 20-0 and 22-4 on Senior Day on LumberJill Field. On a day when Seniors Brittany Schmitt, Asia DeVlaeminck, Marge Koosmann, and Amanda Seely were honored, the Jills scored over 40 runs and threw a no-hitter.
In the first game game the Jills held a 1-0 lead for the first two innings before exploding for eight runs in the third and 11 in the fourth inning. DeVlaeminck, Koosmann, Kylie Garing, Ashleigh Miller, and Ang Koosmann each had two hits for the Jills who had a 13 hit attack.
Schmitt no hit the Saints allowing only two baserunners, both of whom reached on error. It was the second no-hitter Schmitt has been involved in, having a combined one with Katie Johnson in 2007.
In the second game Northland again had two big innings, scoring eight in the second and 14 in the third inning as part of a 17 hit attack. Garing and Seely led the Jills with three hits apiece. Schmitt, Miller, Marge Koosmann, and Erin Roembke each had a pair of hits. Kristin Zimmer picked up the win for the Jills limiting the Saints to five hits.
The LumberJillsare now 8-7 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play.
