Head Coach

Bill Wilson

Bill Wilson Begins his first season as the head coach for the Northland College     Women’s Basketball Program.  He brings 20 years of collegiate coaching experience to the Lumberjills.

Wilson most recently served as the head women’s basketball coach for three seasons at Brevard College in North Carolina. During Wilson’s tenure at Brevard the Tornado’s made the transition from NAIA to NCAA division II and in the process proceeded to defeat 2 nationally ranked NAIA teams. Wilson also coached Brevard College’s all time leading scorer in Holly Krogman as well as two ICAA NCAA division II ALL-Independent players.

Prior to Wilson’s arrival at Brevard College he was the head coach at Upper Iowa University for nine years. During his tenure at UIU, he became the schools all-time career leader in wins. His teams defeated five nationally ranked teams, set 37 individual/team records, and produced six All-Conference players and six 1000 point scorers. In 2002 he became the first women’s coach in UIU athletics history to be named coach of the year when he was named Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association District 8 Coach of the Year following the best season in UIU history. Wilson also directed the programs transition from NCAA Division III to NCAA Division II.

 

Wilson has coached basketball on the international level as well, coaching in Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Slovenia and Italy for USA Athletes International. An organization dedicated to providing educational and competitive opportunities for student/athletes. Wilson has already been invited to coach in Croatia and Italy for the summer of 2010.

His achievements as leader extend beyond the basketball court as well. While at UIU & BC, Wilson’s teams have maintained a 100-percent graduation rate and consistently maintained the highest team grade-point-average of any athletics team. Before arriving at UIU, he worked as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania and as an assistant coach with the Slippery Rock men’s program which finished the 1989-90 season ranked no. 2 nationally in NCAA Division II.

He attained his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Eastern Kentucky University and earned his masters in education and athletics administration from Slippery Rock.

Ray Dauphinais

Ray is a graduate of Drummond High School (1968) and Northland College (1973). He coached on and off during the following years until he returned to the area in 1986. In 1993 he returned to coaching at his alma mater, DHS, were he became an assistant coach. He became the boys’ varsity coach in 1999, going to the sectional finals in 2000. He became Athletic Director at the school in 2003. In 2006 he became  the junior varsity coach and Athletic Director at Mellen High School serving in that capacity for two years. He then became the girls’ varsity coach in 2008, finishing second in the Indianhead Conference that year.  Ray is married to Joni Dauphinais and they have six children.

Carrie is beginning her second season with the LumberJills. She is a Junior Biology Major with a Business Minor from Riceville, Iowa.  She is a 3 year volleyball letterwinner for Northland College.   A 2007 graduate of Riceville High School, her parents are Lowell and Marge Dohlman.
