Northland College gave up three goals in the first period to dropped their sixth straight game in a 6-2 contest against St. Scholastica.

The Northland College men's basketball team scored 56 points in the second half, but fell to Lakeland College 84-76.

The Jacks hung close in the first half against Division II UMD, trailing by two with four minutes to play in the first half, before eventually succumbing to the Bulldogs 100-60.

Northern Michigan opened up the post-Christmas schedule for the Jacks, playing a game that was postponed from December 15, and defeated Northland 80-38.  The game against the Division II opponent dropped the Jacks to 2-7 on the season, 1-1 in the UMAC.

12.15 | Nordic Skiing
The LumberJack and LumberJill Nordic ski teams open the 2008-2009 season at the Grandview Challenge Junior Olympic Qualifier Dec. 13th and 14th.  The Jills are led by three of their  four First Year skiers this season with Erin Blow pacing the Jills in Saturday's 5K freestyle race.  Blow finished 70th with a time of18:08.  Following Blow were fellow First Years Bonnie Johnson in 89th place with a time of 19:28 and Anna Rix in 90th place with a time of 19:34.  In Sunday's 10K Classic race, Blow once again led the Jills with a 67th place with a time of 42:55.  Rix placed 72nd with a time of 49:02.  Johnson did not start due to illness.

Northland College fell to 1-1 in UMAC play, dropping an 83-62 game to Northwestern College.  The Jacks were led by Zeb Woiak's 19 points on 9 of 11 shooting from the field.

The LumberJills basketball team held Northwestern College scoreless for the first 12 minutes of the game, taking a19-0 lead, and then used a 19-4 run in the second half to open up a 27 point lead in defeating the Eagles by a final score of 54-33.
