The LumberJills traveled to St. Paul, MN today for a non-conference contest against the Macalester College Scots.
The Jills got on the board first and took a quick 2-0 lead over the Scots. However, a 9-0 run would put the Jills down 9-2. The Jills chipped away at the Scots' lead and cut the deficit down to 4. The Jills would continue to battle throughout the first half to get the Scots within reach at 15-13. Both teams traded shots with one another to end the half, but it was the Scots who would go into the half with a 28-18 lead over the Jills. The Jills got off to a slow start in the second half, giving the Scots an opportunity to widen their lead. The Jills battled throughout the half, but the Scots would be able to keep them in check. The Jills fell by a final score of 69-30.
Mckayla Waggoner led the Jills with 7 points, while Katherine Taylor and Sarah Houle added 4.
The Jills will be back in action on 1/3 for a conference matchup against the University of Northwestern (MN) on the road. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 15 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
