The Jills hosted non-conference opponent Finlandia University today at the Chapple Family Gymnasium.
The Jills would get off to a good start and quickly take a 5-0 lead. However, Finlandia would tie things up at 6-6. Finlandia would battle back to take the lead. However, the Jills would hit some key shots to retake the 16-5 lead. The Lions would stay close and keep the Jills within reach throughout the first half as both teams would take the lead multiple times. The Jills went into halftime down 32-30. The Lions would strike first in the second half and begin to widen their lead, but the Jills weren't done, as they would chip away at the deficit and eventually take a 40-39 lead. The Jills would widen their lead by 6, but a couple key three pointers would put the Lions back into it. The game would come down to the wire as both teams would trade shots with one another throughout the half. However, a foul would set the Lions up to take a 2 point lead with 24 seconds remaining in the game. The Jills would ultimately fall 57-55.
Reagan Wellman led the Jills with 12 points, while Emily Nielsen and Ashton Meadows would record 10. Katherine Taylor led the team with 4 assists.
The Jills will be back on the court 12/9 against conference opponent Martin Luther College. Tip off is set for 5pm.
