Ashland, WI - The Northland College volleyball team took on the University of Minnesota Morris Cougars in Game 1 Saturday at the Kendrigan Center.

The Jills' struggled to get any offense going in the match as the Cougars' defense would keep the Jills in check most of the game. In set 1 the Jills would jump out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Cougars would quickly answer and take the lead. The Cougars would not relinquish their lead for the rest of the set and took it 25-6. Set 2 saw the Jills' offense start to come alive. However, the Cougars would be able to contain any attacks from the Jills. The Jills would drop set 2 25-11. Set 3 saw the Jills keep the game close early in the set, but the Cougars would take control by scoring 8 consecutive points. The final set would go to the Cougars 25-8.

Northland Senior Bethany Best led the Jills with 6 kills, while Junior Hannah Hitchcock and Freshman Justine Litherland each had 2. Senior Camille Eastburn ended the game with 6 digs, while Litherland had 5. Hitchcock would record 7 assists in the match.
