Ashland, WI- The Northland College Volleyball team continued UMAC play Tuesday and traveled to Superior, WI for two games vs. The College of St. Scholastica and UW-Superior.
In game one vs. St. Scholastica, the Jills fell behind early and lost in 3 sets (13-25, 15-25, 14-25). Leading the way for the Jill's in game one was Senior
Camille Eastburn with 6 kills. Freshman
Justine Litherland and
Nora Hagen would both have 4 kills. Eastburn would also lead the team in digs with 10 and
Hannah Hitchcock would finish with 12 assists.
In game two vs. UW-Superior the Jill's once again got off to a slow start in the first set losing (13-25) but battled back in the second set coming up just short losing (22-25). The Yellowjackets would be too much for the Jills and closed off the 3rd set (15-25) and would win the match 3-0. Justin Litherland would finish with 7 kills,
Camille Eastburn would have 6 and
Ashley Mokamba would have 5.
Caitlyn Severson led the team in digs with 15 and
Taylor Wiegert would lead the team in assists with 21.
"The team came out flat against Scholastica, so against Superior our goal was to play with more energy and fire" said Head Coach
Kim Falkenhagen. "We had a lot of younger players step in and do a great job but we still have areas to work on and get better at. We are continuing to improve and look forward to future success".
The LumberJills (3-10, 0-4) will continue UMAC play this Saturday with a double header at home vs. Martin Luther College (2:00 PM) and North Central University (6:00 P.M.)
